Live N.J. election results: U.S. House races in 2022 mid-term elections

2 min read

Here are the unofficial results of New Jersey general elections in the Garden States 12 congressional districts on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The votes will determine which candidates will hold seats in the U.S. House of Representatives during a key mid-term election cycle in which the balance of power between the Democratic Party and Republican Party is at stake.

Republicans are aiming to gain back control of Congress from Democrats. And New Jersey could play a pivotal role, with at least one of its House races the 7th District showdown between Democratic incumbent Tom Malinowski and Republican challenger Tom Kean Jr. among the most closely watched in the nation.

Democrats are also seeking to keep Republicans from retaking a few other New Jersey House seats that flipped blue over the last decade.

The results below, compiled by the Associated Press, will be updated throughout the night, so please check back later or refresh the page to see the latest tallies.

New Jersey has no statewide elections this year, so the top of the ballot featured the House races.

Nationally, 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate and all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up for grabs, as are 36 governor races, including one in neighboring New York state and one in Pennsylvania.

Currently, Democrats and the independents who caucus with them hold 50 Senate seats and control the chamber because Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris has the tie-breaking vote. The Democrats also have a narrow House majority, with 220 votes, including 10 of New Jerseys 12 House members.

All but one House incumbent in New Jersey is seeking re-election. Rep. Albio Sires, D-8th Dist., is retiring.MORE N.J.
