New leadership at SIFMA

Securities lobbying powerhouse the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association announced a change in leadership in their Advocacy division by appointing Josh Wilsusen as executive vice president.
The new job puts Wilsusen in the driver seat for SIFMA’s government affairs and federal advocacy efforts, which include a number of important muni priorities related to tax policy and securities regulation.
“I am honored to join SIFMA and look forward to working with SIFMA’s talented advocacy team,” said Wilsusen.
Prior to joining SIFMA, he led Ally Financials’ Washington, D.C. office as Managing Director, Deputy General Counsel, and Head of Government Relations. He also worked at Morgan Stanley as Executive Director of Government Relations.
Wilsusen was introduced to government affairs while serving as counsel to the House Financial Services Committee under chairman Michael Oxley (R-OH). Oxley sponsored the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 that sought to reign in publicly traded companies in the wake of the Enron scandal.

Joseph Seidel, chief operating officer of SIFMA added, “Josh brings significant industry knowledge to SIFMA. His experience running a Washington, D.C. office coupled with his familiarity of SIFMA and our priority issues will benefit SIFMA as we continue to advocate on behalf of our members for policies that ensure sound and efficient capital markets. We are thrilled to welcome him to SIFMA.”
Prior to his work in Congress Wilsusen was a corporate and litigation attorney at two AmLaw50 firms in New York and D.C. He received his BA from Williams College and his JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
Wilsusen will report for duty in the Washington office on Oct. 24 and work under Joseph Seidel, COO. He will also serve as a member of SIFMA’s operating and management committees.
