Barricaded suspect shoots at police in Inwood
A man barricaded inside of an apartment in Inwood allegedly opened fire on police on Friday evening.
NEW YORK – One person has been killed and another injured after a narcotics investigation in Manhattan ended in a shootout with the NYPD Friday night.
According to authorities, at 8:41 p.m., officers and federal agents were conducting a narcotics operation and attempted to arrest two men on the first floor of a building in Inwood.
As authorities tried to make the arrest, one of the men pulled out a gun and fired at officers. Members of the task force were able to apprehend one man immediately and returned fire at the other man.
The man then barricaded himself inside the apartment. Police attempted to make contact, and after finding themselves unable, were able to get a look inside and saw the man lying on the floor.

The Emergency Service Unit then entered the apartment and found that the man had succumbed to his injuries.
No police officers were injured during the incident.
Two guns were recovered at the scene.
Charges against the suspect in police custody are pending.
